Long distance water supply channel is located in a remote place, and characteristic of more water supply points and long distance.Remote centralized control becomes inevitable, especially using the optical fiber communication technology as the foundation of remote control .This paper introduces the importance and necessity of the construction of optical fiber communication system, and optical fiber communication system structure, system link and system equipment type selection in the South Main Canal of water information system in order to achieve the design goal of unmanned, unattended operation,centralized control.
