Composite indicators to evaluate the gasoline quality were introduced, and the relation between gasoline component, octane number, density and calorific value was analyzed. The requirements of motor-engine performance for the gasoline quality were discussed as well as the influence of engine performance on the combustion efficiency of gasoline. Meanwhile, the economy in use of gasoline with different octane numbers and components was researched. At last, how to properly choose octane numbers was pointed out.
