肿瘤易感基因101所编码的蛋白质参与多种重要的生物功能,如泛素化、细胞增殖与生存、病毒出芽等,其表达的稳定性对于维持细胞内稳态和细胞周期调控很重要,这种稳定性一旦被干扰会导致细胞转化。有意思的是,TSG101在人类恶性肿瘤中的表达既有上调又有下调;剪接变异体的发现则提出又一种可能的解释。目前,TSG101与肿瘤发生的关系以及其在癌细胞中的表达调控机制仍未明了。

The protein encoded by tumor susceptibility gene 101 involves in many important biological functions, such as ubiquitin, cell proliferation and survival, virus budding. The steady-state expression of this tumor susceptibility gene appears to be important for maintenance cell homeostasis and cell cycle regulation and that perturbation of TSG101 functions leads to cell transformation. Interestingly, the expression of TSG101 in human malignant tumors is up or down. And the discovery of splicing variants is put forward to support another possible explanation. At present, the relationship between TSG101 and tumorigenesis , and the control mechanism of TSG101 expression in cancer cells are not yet clear.
