Balsam pear has a variety of health functions including hypoglycemic activity concerned by many people. Main active components playing hypoglycemic effect include saponins, flavonoids, polysaccharides. In this paper, extraction and evaluation methods of main active components were reviewed for the development of products and hypoglycaemic mechanism.
