黄际遇是民国数学教育界的泰斗和骈文教学的名家。他在任教武昌高等师范学堂、广州中山大学、国立开封大学之后，1930-1936年寓居青岛，先后任国立青岛大学理学院院长、国立山东大学文理学院院长，在杨振声辞职期间出任青岛大学校务会议临时主席，是20世纪30年代青岛教育史上一个不可多得的学术大师。黄际遇一生治学行谊素为海内外学人推崇，被誉为“博学鸿才真奇士，高风亮节一完人”。

황제우시민국수학교육계적태두화병문교학적명가。타재임교무창고등사범학당、엄주중산대학、국립개봉대학지후，1930-1936년우거청도，선후임국립청도대학이학원원장、국립산동대학문이학원원장，재양진성사직기간출임청도대학교무회의림시주석，시20세기30년대청도교육사상일개불가다득적학술대사。황제우일생치학행의소위해내외학인추숭，피예위“박학홍재진기사，고풍량절일완인”。
Huang Jiyu is the master of education in maths and is famous for Pianwen teaching in the Republic of China (1912-1949). After he finished his teaching in Wuchang Normal University, Guangzhou Zhongshan University and Kaifeng National University,he settled down in Qingdao. Then,he served as the president of Qingdao National University and the School of Arts and Sciences in Shan-dong National University. In addition,he took up the post of interim chairman of school administrative meeting in Qingdao University,who deserves a rarely excellent master in the education history of Qing-dao. Huang Jiyu’s moral teaching conduct is rewarded and respected highly both at home and abroad so that he wins the reputation of “a perfect man with brilliance,wide learning and noble mind”.
