“约”在《圣经》中具有非常重要的地位。为了更好地治理人类，神采取了与肉体惩罚、洪水毁灭等不同的方式———立约。经历了旧约和新约时代，神与人双方共订立了八个盟约。这些盟约都有记号为见证，其中彩虹、割礼和洗礼分别为挪亚之约、亚伯拉罕之约和基督新约的标记，是神人之间达成和解、挑选子民和人类救赎的代码。

The sense of “covenant”occupies an important position in The Bible.In order to govern the hu-man beings better,God adopts a measure of covenanting,different from corporal punishment and destruction by flood.Throughout the periods of Old Testament and New Testament,eight covenants have been signed by the two parties.All the covenants are endowed with marks as testimony.Noahic Covenant,Abrahamic Covenant and Je-sus Christ’s New Covenant are respectively marked by rainbow,circumcision and baptism that serve as the codes of compromise between God and Man,God’s elect,and human’s salvation.
