this paper introduced the development history of the straw being used as building material in foreign countries, analyzed the features of the straw material, expounded the advantages of straw material, including natural, renewable, zero-emission, low-energy, highly heat-insulated features. Providing people with sustainable living environment and meeting their psychological need of being close to nature is the new developing direction for future building materials.
