1988年以来，英国的科学课程一直处在改革之中，但在改革中仍然暴露出一些问题，面对国际上科学教育竞争排名的下滑、国内人民对科学教育质量的不满，2013年，英国教育部实行了新的小学科学课程。新课程分为科学能力训练与科学知识传授两个方面，此外还实施了新的科学评估，旨在培养学生独立解决科学问题能力的培养，为培养既有科学知识、又富有科学精神与科学探究能力的高层次科学人才打下基础。

Science has been put into a high position since the national curriculum reform in 1988, when science was named one of the three core curricula. But as science program has continued to reform, some problems occur and remain unresolved. Facing the disadvantage of science education competition in the world and the dissatisfaction of the science education quality in domestic, UK has started a new primary science curriculum reform in 2013, containing Working Scientiifcally and Program Study two parts. UK also starts a lfexible sampling test in order to make sure pupil can solve scientiifc problems by their own, and to lay the foundation for excellence scientists who are full of science knowledge, science spirit and science working ability.
