Based on their expatiation on several main viewpoints on social capital, the authors elaborated the con-notation and extension of the concept of social capital of sports associations, and analyzed the functions of social capital of sports associations, which are mainly embodied in helping in improving the economic condition of sports associations, helping in building the social credibility of sports associations, helping sports associations acquiring valid information, helping in improving sports associations’ management efficiency, etc.
