崔嘉彦系南宋甘肃天水人，中年客居庐山，传习医学，首创西原正派脉学，编著《脉诀》等医籍，门人甚多，继承和发展了西原正派脉学，脉学著作颇丰；纠偏时行的“七表、八里、九道”脉学之弊端，系中医脉学发展之里程碑，对后世脉学发展起到极大的推动和指导作用。

CUIJiayan, born in Tianshui of Gansu province during SouthernSongdynasty, dwelled on Mount Lu in his middle age. He imparted and studied medicine and pioneered the decent school ofXiyuan(Sicheng County inSongdynasty). He edited many medical classics relevant to pulse such asMaijue(Sphygmology in Rhymes), car-rying forward the decent school ofXiyuanwith many students in the world. Meanwhile, he rectified the malpractice ofQibiao,BaliandJiudao(types of pulse recorded byLIShizhenin hisBinhuMaixue), which was proved to be a milestone in the development of sphygmology. His contributions are promoting and instructing the growth of the sphygmology for prosperity.
