Aiming at defects of X-ray detection on the shell of ultra-high voltage GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear), the paper suggests that ultrasonic detection be adopted for non-loss detection on welding seam of ultra-high voltage GIS and it elaborates on the detection techniques of ultrasonic detection method. It is proved by the practical detection that ultrasonic detection method can effectively detect quality problems in the welding seam of ultra-high voltage GIS shell.
