Love is a permanent topic.It is a rare occasion to talk about love in political novels or in Utopian stories.The novel 1984 gives readers a vivid description of the real life situation in the Oceania Country, where it is totally forbidden to have personal feelings or emotions.After a close-reading analysis, this article analyzes the love stories between Winston and Julia, and explores the implicit meaning of the destruction of the love between them as well as the reasons for the destruction.It reveals that, below the surface story, the totalitarianism will destroy everything, including the true love.And in this way, the article tries to state out that the totalitarianism is evil and awe-inspiring.
