The Kitchen God’ s Wife , another famous works of Amy Tan after The Joy Luck Club , mainly describes the heroine Win-nie’ s sufferings and hardships brought forth by her unfortunate marriage in China, and the gap between her and her daughter caused by cultural differences after she comes to the United States from their homeland. This paper analyzes the prototype and personality mask of Winnie and then discusses such beautiful qualities symbolized by oriental women as diligence, patience, tolerance, and firmness, thus setting a good image of oriental female.
