骑像俑是指把人物骑马、骑骆驼的景象做成泥胎，烧制成陶俑。目前，关于研究陶俑的论述很多，但是把陶俑中的骑像俑单独作为研究对象来分析的文章却很少。文章通过对骑像俑研究表明，这种文化形态开始于战国，兴盛于唐代，直至元代以后逐渐衰落。古代骑像俑文化衰退的主要原因是由于不同历史阶段社会环境的改变所造成的。对于骑像俑的研究，探讨了这类文化背后的社会习俗与风貌，为更好地保护文化遗产提供了重要的理论依据。

Terracotta riding figurine is a mode of artistic expression of people , riding animals like horses or camels , and the organic integration of these subjects into ceramic crafts and sculptures , generally through special firing process .Many aca-demic and educational papers and books have been published nowadays regarding ancient Chinese terracotta figure arts . However , research particularly focus on riding figurine is still rare .The text in this article has demonstrated the historical e-volution of this art form:the emerging during Period of Battle Kingdoms , the booming during the Tang Dynasty , and the de-clining after Yuan Dynasty .The constant changing of political , cultural, and social environment finally leaded to the down-turn of this ancient tradition .The author of this article has been studying the physical characteristics of the art form together with the larger social and cultural background in attempt to provide an invaluable testimony to the rich heritage of ancient craftsmanship and the importance of cultural conservancy .
