This article introduces the essence of light flicker and flicker characteristics of traditional lights. Analyzes the flicker effect on traditional light by introducing fluctuation depth and flicker index and make it quantified. Some examples are given in this article to show the physiological effects and hazards of flickers on human body under the circumstance of functional lighting. Comprehensive research is done in details to analyze the current status of light flicker on LED lighting. Some working status of LED lighting which had limited light-flicker or non-light flicker are also be described in this article.
