近年来，我国区域经济发展差异呈现出新的趋势，四大地带间的经济发展差距总体上呈现先扩大后缩小的态势，1978－2004年四大地带间的经济发展差距持续扩大，从2004年至今四大地带间的经济发展差距逐年缩小。从产业层面看，服务业扩散的速度慢于制造业扩散的速度，制造业更容易从发达地区转移到欠发达地区。城市群在区域发展中的作用日益突出，十大城市群内城市的经济增长速度高于其他城市；发展阶段较高的城市群，经济活动开始从城市群核心城市向周边城市扩散，而对于发展阶段较低的城市群，城市群内部经济活动则向核心城市集聚。

In recent years,disparities in China's regional economic development present a new trend that the gap in economic develop-ment among the first four zones is narrowing on the whole after having widened first.From 1 978 to 2004,the gap in economic develop-ment among the first four zones continued its expansion,while from 2004 to date the gap has been shrinking year by year.From the in-dustrial perspective,the diffusion of service industry is slower that of manufacturing industry which more easily shifts from developed re-gions to the less developed regions.Meanwhile,urban agglomeration plays an increasingly prominent role in regional development, their economic growth rate of the cities within the top ten urban agglomerations being higher than the rest of the cities.The economic activities of the urban agglomerations at the advanced developing stage diffuse from the core cities towards the surrounding cities.In contrast,those of the urban agglomerations at the lower developing stage agglomerate towards the core cities.
