阎连科的《日光流年》讲述的是在耙耧山脉深处的几乎与外界隔绝的三姓村的故事。三姓村村民全都活不过四十岁，这也注定了死亡与生育生活生存的较量。历届村长带领村民与死亡斗争，充满北方人的对“生的坚强”和“死的挣扎”。三姓村村民的“生的坚强”表现在生育、生存和生活三个方面，而“死的挣扎”则表现在死亡的方式、意义和对棺材的重视三个方面。阎连科这种对死亡和生育的变态迷恋正是出于他对生命的热爱与绝望。

Yan Lianke's "Sunshine and the Fleeting Time" tells the story of the almost isolated Three Surnames Village in the depths of Palou mountains. The villagers of Three Surnames Vil-lage can only live till forty years old, which consequently results in a doomed struggle between death and procreation, life and survival. Village heads lead their villagers to struggle with death, fully reflecting north Chinese people's "persistence in life" and"struggle with death". The villagers' "persistence in life" is re-flected in such three aspects as procreation, survival and life, while their "struggle with death" is reflected in the styles and meanings of death and their emphasis on coffins. Yan Lianke's abnormal fascination with death and procreation is out of his very love and despair for life.
