As an important part of rotating equipment, sealing device played a key role to prevent the leakage. In petrochemical industry, due to the requirement of environmental protection and safety, the affect of sealing device was obvious. From the perspective of the development of the sealing, the historical evolution and application technology progress of mechanical seal and the packing seal in petrochemical industry were introduced. The future of the seal was discussed at the end.
