民族团结关系到国家统一、领土完整和边疆稳定，在中小学开展民族团结教育符合中华民族的根本和长远利益。文章论述了实施民族团结教育的重要意义；实施民族团结教育的途径。实施民族团结教育的途径主要包括：充分发挥课堂教学主阵地作用，推进民族团结教育进教材、进课堂、进学生头脑；以校园文化建设为载体，组织开展形式多样、内容丰富的民族团结教育活动；深入开展社会实践，增强民族团结教育的针对性和实效性；充分利用现有资源，建立民族团结教育基地。

National unity means national unification, territorial integrity and stability in border areas;therefore, it agrees with the vital and long-term interest of Chinese nation to carry out the education of national unity in elementary and high schools. The author of this paper discusses the significance and the guiding principle of carrying out such education and how to do it. The major means to and stra-tegies of carrying out such education are:making full use of the function of classroom teaching;writing national unity into textbooks, popularizing national unity in classroom teaching, and making students’ mind full of such kind of education;carrying out various col-orful activities about such education by way of constructing campus culture;carrying out social practice to make such education more effective and pragmatic;and taking full advantage of resources available to construct the educational base for national unity.
