It is an imperative task for China to explore a path for the new urbanization based on the realistic sit-uations in China.Suzhou ranks in the top range in terms of urbanization level among all the cities in China.There-fore it is helpful to clarify the path features of the new urbanization in China by analyzing and reviewing the urbani-zation progress in Suzhou.Basically, Suzhou has witnessed three stages, including town, city, and urban agglomer-ation, during the urbanization.Therefore, from the gain and loss in these stages, the path features of the new urban-ization in China are supposed to include organizational guarantee, plan as a whole, human-orientation, environ-ment friendly, all-round development, and culturalheritage.
