In the study SMI Eye-tracking system was used to examine the characteristic of Müller-lyer illusion among different cognitive styles of undergraduates. 40 undergraduates attended the experiment of a between-subject design, which was 3 (slash angle:60°,90°or 120°)×3(line direction:flat, plumb or cross plumb )×2 ( cognitive style:field independent or dependent). The results were list?ed as below:a) different cognitive style had influences on correct judgment of Müller-lyer illusion;b) slash angle and picture direction had influences on correct judgment of Müller-lyer illusion and there was a significant interaction on average dwell time of the illusion picture;c) the scores of Independent Cognitive Style individuals were significantly larger than that of Dependent Cognitive Style ones during the total processing of the Müller-lyer illusion pictures.
