多义词是大学英语词汇中一种极为常见的语言现象。在多义词教学方面,前人的研究主要集中于思辨性的理论探讨。本文以认知语言学中的原型范畴理论为依据,以北方民族大学120名非英语专业本科生为实验对象,通过实证研究论述对大学英语多义词的教学启示。实验结果表明,原型范畴理论视域下的大学英语多义词教学效果明显优于传统词汇教学法;原型义项促进了其他边缘义项的习得,提高了英语多义词记忆效率。

Polysemy is a very common language phenomenon in college English vocabulary . In the aspect of polysemy teaching , previous studies mainly concentrated on theoretical discussion of speculation .The thesis regards Prototype Category Theory in cognitive linguistics as evidence , 120 non-Eng-lish major undergraduates in Beifang University of Nationality as subjects , and demonstrates implications for college English polysemy teaching by empirical research .Experimental results suggest that the effect of college English vocab -ulary teaching under Prototype Category Theory is obviously superior to that of traditional vocabulary teaching method; prototypical senses facilitate the acqui-sition of other peripheral senses and improve the efficency of English polysemy memory.
