For one large diameter external pressure vessel, itsflat bottom was calculated and designed. It was found that theflat bottom must be very thick. In this article, based on the analysis, one method of using strengthener on theflat bottom was presented, from which the thickness of the bottom can be reduced. Theflat bottom designed by using this method has been put used in practice, and its performance is reliable and stable. Thus the method presented herein has reference in equipment design.
