In this paper,the application of the SEL-387 microcomputer protection device was intro-duced,which was for differential protection of the main transformer in Kunming Iron and steel four or five of the total step-down substation.Problems and solutions that encountered from Debugging to operation were studied.Matters needing attention in the application of SEL-387 microcomputer protection device were given.
