There are three phases of rapid development for mammary gland in sow, from 90 days old to puberty, during the last third of gestation, throughout lactation respectively. Nutrition, endocrine status and management of sows during those periods all affect mammary gland develop-ment. This paper summarized the effects of nutrition,hormonal status and management schemes on the sow′s mammary gland development.
