For power systems at home and abroad, the status of neutral grounding mode and the characteristics of single phase fault in smal current grounding system were presented; the fault location methods of smal current grounding systems were elaborated; the fault location principle was analyzed; the advantages and disadvantages of various methods were compared. The main problems of fault location in smal current grounding systems were pointed out, and some suggestions on the research of smal current grounding fault location were given out.
