英语陈述疑问句是一种较为特殊的句法结构，不同的语调表达具有不同的语用功能。试借助语音分析软件PRAAT，根据Halliday提出的英语语调系统理论，通过对比10位学习者和本族语者对朗读陈述疑问句“I was on the walkway that leads to the bridge？”的调群切分、调核位置、核心调和音高曲线，研究中国学习者表达英语陈述疑问句的语调特征。研究发现陈述疑问句主要体现为降调型和升调型，分别体现说话者的确定和疑问的态度。本族语者和学习者在调群边界特点、调核位置以及调型三个方面都存在异同点。

English declarative question is a very unique structure which can express different pragmatic functions by different tones.Based on the phonetic software Praat and the tone system proposed by Halliday, this paper compared and analyzed the tonali-ty, tonicity and tone type of I was on the walkway that leads to the bridge between ten Chinese learners and the native speaker, so that the Chinese learners’ intonation type can be found out.The results show that there are two types of tones:falling tone and ris-ing tone which respectively expressed the speaker’ s certainty and questioning.After comparing the features of tonality, tonicity and tone type, the researcher found out that there are similarities and differences between, which will be discussed in details in the fol-lowing text.
