中西传统医学的骨伤科文献内容比较散在,特点也迥然不同。西方传统医学中,从《希波克拉底文集》到阿维森纳的《医典》,均载有丰富的整骨、复位以及固定方法与治疗性药物。与中医药学相关内容相比,西医学以解剖学为基础,重视器械之应用,并以功能锻炼配合康复治疗;而中医学则以气一元论为核心,经络、气血、藏象理论为基础,传承与创建的手法流派诸多,以内功见长。西方传统医学在整骨方面有着丰富的积淀,而在“伤筋”病的范畴,中医治疗则具有一定的特色与优势。此外,中西传统医学都有各自独特的草药和配方,作为主要或辅助治疗手段应用于各类骨伤科疾病。

Fractures literatures in traditional Chinese and Western medicine were scattered and their characters were different. In the traditional Western medicine,from The Hippocratic Corpus to Canon of Medi-cine written by Avicenna,Osteopath,restoration and fixation methods and therapeutic drugs were recorded a-bundantly . Traditional Chinese Medicine was centered on qi and based on the theory of meridian,qi and blood and visceral manifestations,many different ways of treatment were inherited and created,and the internal qigong was the special character. In comparison with Chinese medicine,Western medicine was based on anat-omy,putting application of instrument in an important position and functional exercise cooperated with reha-bilitation therapy. Traditional western medicine had rich accumulation in osteopath,while traditional Chinese therapy had characters and advantages in treating tissue injury. Besides,traditional Chinese and western medi-cine both have their own herbs or medicine as main or assistant therapy in orthopedic diseases.
