To find out the stress magnification factor ( SMF ) of screening fatigue assessment in the Harmonized Common Structure Rules for Bulk Carriers and Oil Tankers ( HCSR) , according to the screening fatigue assessment procedure of HCSR, the reasonableness of SMF provided in the rules at different nodes and the results of screening fatigue assessment for existing ves-sels is studied, and the influence of the screening fatigue assessment is discussed upon the design of oil tanker and bulk carrier.
