漠月的小说打破了西部作家特别是宁夏本土作家的“乡土诗意”,或者说挽歌式乡村叙事的思维定势和创作惯性,以丰富的想像力和富有特色的本土话语,直面现代工业化迅猛发展之后西部乡村作为“荒野”的最后存在以及家园被毁的现实。作者通过乡村小人物的无力反抗,通过人与动物紧张的生存关系,通过对大自然母亲的体认与理解,表达了对生态危机的反思。

MO Yue’s novel, The land of vanilla, breaks the “local poetic flavor” of the western writers, espe-cially Ningxia writers, or the thinking set and writing habits of country narration. MO Yue’s novel, with rich imag-ination and distinctive native discourse, faces to the western country as “wilderness” after the rapid development of modern industrialization and the reality of home destroyed after the invasion of modern civilization. The writer expresses the deep rethinking of ecological crisis by ways of the villagers’ powerless resistance, strained relations with human and animals and understanding of nature.
