Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a chronic inflammatory disease which involved large/small airways,pulmonary parenchyma and vessels.Many risk factors can cause COPD,including lower respiratory tract infection and especially bacterial infection in lower respiratory tract is an important cause to lead to COPD and acute exacerbation of COPD.Based on this,some investigators present a new concept——infective phenotype COPD.This review focuses on the background of presenting this new concept of infective phenotype COPD and discusses the characteristics of this kind of COPD.
