蒲松龄与果戈理均为世界文学史中的伟大作家,他们的创作皆吸取了其本民族的民间文化与文学精髓,这在《聊斋志异》与《狄康卡近乡夜话》中表现得尤为明显。在蒲松龄《白秋练》与果戈理《五月的夜》中塑造了具有浓厚民族文化、原初信仰与生命观念的“白秋练”与“女水鬼”,在形象塑造及本民族生命观念的表达上,两位作家既有部分契合,又各有千秋。

Based on detailed and reliable documentations,this paper,on the one hand, gives a diachronic description research on the translation and dissemina-tion of Liao Zhai Zhi Y i in the English world from 1842 to 1949,and discusses the different characteristics of two periods synchronically,on the other,in an at-tempt to expound the reception psychology of the canonization of Liao Zhai Zhi Y i. As a successful model of Chinese literature works going out,Liao Zhai Zhi Y i is helpful to contemporary Chinese literature's dissemination abroad,and its reception status also provokes us to rethink the misreading of Chinese image caused by oriental imagination from the west.
