Directly-linked frequency-stabilized shaft generator system for a fixed pitch propeller (FPP-DL-FSSG) is developed by combination of duel-speed-ratio or multi-speed-ratio gearbox and self-excitation brushless synchronous generator. This system ensures the relevant control and alarm signals to transmit and feedback regularly in different systems by establishing the complicated logical relations among M/E remote control system, M/E control and security system, PMS, and gearbox control system. Thereby, a new FPP-DL-FSSG system is established with the characteristics of low cost, simple hardware conifguration, and high power quality to meet the requirements of the unattended machinery space for various classiifcation, such as CCS, DNV-GL, etc. This paper gives a general description of the system function, composition and the characteristics of the software and hardware, analyzes its advantages and disadvantages, and presents issues that should be noted in its application. It has great signiifcance of low operational cost, energy conservation and emission reduction for shipping enterprises.
