对于煤层层数较多的近距离煤层群且具有高瓦斯或煤与瓦斯突出的矿井,首采层选择对矿井安全生产至关重要。以贵州肥田矿井为例,按照《防突规定》,从井田内上下煤组实测的瓦斯突出参数、煤层赋存状况、瓦斯巷布置的空间条件、开采技术条件及区段石门揭穿突出煤层次数等方面综合分析论证,最终选择下煤组16号煤层作为保护层先行开采。

For the high-methane or coal-and-methane outburst mines with close-distance coal-seams, selection of primary-mining coal-seam was very important. For Feitian Mine, according to outburst prevention regulations, from methane outburst parameters, coal-seam occurrence state, space condition of methane roadway arrangement, mining condition and times of section crossdrift uncovering coal, 16th coal-seam of lower-group was selected as protective seam.
