膨胀土在中国分布较广,遍及大江南北,是一种超压密粘性土。常态多呈坚硬-硬塑状态,土的密度大,空隙比小,亲水性特强。干燥时土质坚硬,裂隙发育,具有典型的吸水膨胀失水收缩及胀缩可逆的变形特性。地基土浸水膨胀,建筑物会上升隆起;地基土失水收缩,建筑物会产生下沉或开裂,膨胀土的胀缩变形量直接影响到建筑物变形破坏的程度。

Expansive soil distribute widely in China, it’s a kind of over consolidated clay. Normal state shows more hard-hard plastic state, high density, small void ratio, strong hydrophilic property. When dry, it’s hard, fissures, with reversible dehydration shrinkage and shrinkage deformation characteristics of typical water absorption expansion. When flooding expansion of foundation soil, buildings will rise uplift; Foundation soil desiccation shrinkage, buildings will produce sinking or cracking, swell-shrink deformation of expansive soil directly affects the degree of building deformation damage.
