膨胀土在中国分布较广，遍及大江南北，是一种超压密粘性土。常态多呈坚硬-硬塑状态，土的密度大，空隙比小，亲水性特强。干燥时土质坚硬，裂隙发育，具有典型的吸水膨胀失水收缩及胀缩可逆的变形特性。地基土浸水膨胀，建筑物会上升隆起；地基土失水收缩，建筑物会产生下沉或开裂，膨胀土的胀缩变形量直接影响到建筑物变形破坏的程度。
팽창토재중국분포교엄，편급대강남북，시일충초압밀점성토。상태다정견경-경소상태，토적밀도대，공극비소，친수성특강。간조시토질견경，렬극발육，구유전형적흡수팽창실수수축급창축가역적변형특성。지기토침수팽창，건축물회상승륭기；지기토실수수축，건축물회산생하침혹개렬，팽창토적창축변형량직접영향도건축물변형파배적정도。
