Packet enhanced OTN technology is mainly to meet the substantial bandwidth growth and multi-service providing, which is a better choice in a packet-based, broadband-based, flat and integrated MAN. It gives the fundamental principles and system architecture of POTN, describes briefly the standardization and research progress. It discusses typical application scenarios of POTN in the MAN, such as flat IPMAN, leased-line service and C-RAN carrying, analyzes service demanding, carrying models, and network architecture, proposes the possible introducing scheme and resolution.
