肇始于1906年的美国高校合作教育大体经历了酝酿初创、艰难传播、高速扩张、稳定发展等四个阶段百余年的发展流变。其以实用主义等教育理论为指导,通过构建参与者共益机制,积极推进联邦立法,直接获得联邦、州的财政拨款等重要举措,实现了美国合作教育的百年辉煌。进入21世纪,美国合作教育亟需解决满足劳动力国际化、适应高新技术产业等外界挑战,加强项目协调人等自身制度建设,并将合作教育升级为现代学徒制,以实现项目自身的现代化。

Cooperative education in colleges and universities of America can be traced back to 1906. Its development has experienced four stages: initial stage, arduous spreading, rapid development and steady progression. Based on Dewey’s educational theory of pragmatism, the program has established mechanism of participants’ benefits, propelled the co-op legislation and won the support of government grant. In the 21st century, the co-op will face a number of challenges such as internationalization of labor, high-tech Industry, improving the system of coordinator and upgrading of modern apprenticeship and so on to realize its own modernization.
