2009年以来，一种免费的迷你图书馆正在全世界逐渐流行，它具有公益性、自发性、创办成本低、志愿者参与管理以及运行公开透明等特点。迷你图书馆的普及，对延伸公共图书馆服务、制造社区温暖氛围、激发社区民众阅读需求、开发人际交流网络、提升社会诚信水平、凝聚社会各界关注公益小项目等，均有推动作用。作为一种来自民间的公益图书馆运动，迷你图书馆的兴起表明：文化的创新活力来自于民间，技术创新不是图书馆服务创新的唯一选项，最有价值的图书馆服务创新应将受益群体优先锁定社会基层民众。

Since 2009,a kind of Little Free Library is being popular all around the world. It is built at low cost with recycling materials and managed by community resident spontaneously, moreover, it is open to anyone passing by for free. The promotion of Little Free Library can extend the public library service, improve community atmosphere, motivate the reading desire, develop new interpersonal communication, enhance the social integrity, and bring more attention to small public welfare program. The rise of Little Free Library as a folk movement has told us: the power of cultural creativity comes from the people, and technical innovation is not the only way of library innovation, what’s more, the grassroots should be the ifrst beneifciaries of the most valuable library innovation.
