“势”是中国古典美学的重要范畴之一，它是在中国传统文化的沃土上孕育出来的，文化源远流长，内涵独特。传统武术的“形”是指武术动作所构之形，武术的“势”是指武术动作所展现出来的气势和精神。“形”是“势”的载体，“势”是“形”的表现，传统武术之“势”的生成途径在于以形造势。传统武术之“势”是“形”与“意”的和谐统一，其最显著的美学特征是势有形而意无穷。

The"potential" is one of the important categories of Chinese classical aesthetics,and it is gestated on the fertile soil of Chinese traditional culture,which has the deep cultural origin and unique connotation. The"form" of traditional martial arts refers to the shape of actions in the martial arts,and the "potential"refers to the momentum and spirit which the actions in martial arts show.The"form"is the carrier of the"potential",and the"potential" is the performance of"form".The generation way of traditional martial arts is making"potential"through the"form".The"potential"of Chinese traditional martial arts is the harmony of the"form"and"meaning",whose most famous aesthetic characteristics is that the potential is material and the meaning is infinite.
