This article focuses on CPI GENIV3kW klystron amplifier cooling, introducing the solution of preventing bad air damaging CPI GENIV3kW klystron amplifier’s stability and life. CPI GENIII and the early klystron amplifier were less affected by air, since cold air only worked on cooling fins. However, when using GENIV3kW klystron, cold air blows over all the high voltage electrodes. The high-salt, high-humidity, dusty air severely impacts the stability and life of equipments, causing many difficulties to maintenance. Due to the limitation of equipment operation space and high power dissipation, traditional air-forced cooling and air-conditioner cooling could not be both energy efficient and safe. Heat pipe system’s EER (energy efficiency ratio) can go up to 15 and above, therefore, is extremely appropriate for those thermal environments whose local temperature is highly above outdoor temperature and cannot be open because of the dust outside.
