The technological requirements of primer-free vacuum aluminum plating on automotive lamp was described from three aspects including injection molding of substrate, vacuum aluminum plating, and packaging of plated products. Some points needing attention during injection molding and vacuum aluminum plating were introduced in combination with the causes of common defects of aluminum plated products. It is pointed out that primer-free plating on substrate is one of the development trends for metallization of automotive lamps.
