提本文关心的问题在于“中华现代性”的哲学奠基，并扣紧此一思路将百年来的中国哲学发展分为四个阶段。第一阶段，哲学作为西方现代性基础思想之引进者，最领风骚。第二阶段，哲学协助反思民族精神，虽渐退居第二线，然已开始思索中华现代性的方向。第三阶段，哲学工作者致力提出数个融合中西的哲学体系，试图为中华现代性作哲学奠基，在人文、社会科学界中实属难能可贵。现在，处于第四期后期，中国哲学面对全球化与后现代挑战，应能在跨文化与全世界脉络中继续探辟概念系统、生活世界与中华精神资源，进行批判性、合理性、顾全整体的哲学思索。
提本文關心的問題在于“中華現代性”的哲學奠基，併釦緊此一思路將百年來的中國哲學髮展分為四箇階段。第一階段，哲學作為西方現代性基礎思想之引進者，最領風騷。第二階段，哲學協助反思民族精神，雖漸退居第二線，然已開始思索中華現代性的方嚮。第三階段，哲學工作者緻力提齣數箇融閤中西的哲學體繫，試圖為中華現代性作哲學奠基，在人文、社會科學界中實屬難能可貴。現在，處于第四期後期，中國哲學麵對全毬化與後現代挑戰，應能在跨文化與全世界脈絡中繼續探闢概唸繫統、生活世界與中華精神資源，進行批判性、閤理性、顧全整體的哲學思索。

Focusing on the problematics of Chinese modernity and its philosophical foundation, this paper divides the development of philosophy in China in recent 100 years into four peroiods.In its first period, from 1911 to 1927, philosophers in China were the most enthusiastic in introdu-cing Western modernity and its philosophical foundations from various forms and doctrines of modern Western philosophy.This period was the most pro-gressive and, indeed, impacted all Chinese intellectuals at the time.In its second period from 1928 to 1949, during the time of national construction and the Japanese invasion, philosophers stepped behind, serving as helpers in clarifying and articulating the Chinese spirit and Chinese subjectivity at the time of its awakening.This prepared for the philosophical foundation of a Chinese model of modernity.In the third period from 1949 to 1980, some major philosophical figures had built their philosophical systems synthesizing Western and Chinese philosophies.This was, indeed, most precious, and also unique, in comparison with other disciplines in the humanities and the social sciences.These philosophical systems could be seen as divers at-tempts to lay the philosophical foundation of Chinese modernity.Now, in the fourth period, philosophers in China are facing the challenges of globaliza-tion and postmodernism.Here is the big question challenging all Chinese philosophers today:how can Chinese cultural tradition find its own way to modernity and overcome the bad effects of Western modernity?This question still needs deeper philosophical reflections.Future generations of Chinese philosophers should be able to answer this question by carrying on critical and reasonable reflection on issues related to Chinese modernity and be-yond.
