With introduction of the reasons and harmful consequences of the inadvertent energizing of generator units, the necessity of protection device against such accident is demonstrated.The configuration, function logic, working prin-ciples and setting-calculation of the inadvertent energizing protection adopted in Xiluodu and Xiangjiaba Hydropower Sta-tions are discussed.The importance of such protection in the safe operation of hydropower generator units are shown.
