The exact and approximate closed-form expressions for the average Symbol Error Rate(SER)and average Bit Error Rate(BER) of coherent M-ary orthogonal/biorthogonal signals over Nakagami fading channels with joint single Transmit Antenna Selection and Receive Antenna Selection(TAS/RAS)are derived in this paper. Numerical and simulation results verify the accuracy of the approximate solution and illustrate the effect of Nakagami fading coefficient and antenna configurations on the average SER and BER of TAS/RAS systems. Numerical and simulation results also show that better error performance of M-ary orthogonal/biorthogonal signals can be achieved by evenly distributing antennas between the receiver and transmitter with a fixed total number of transmit and receive antenna antennas.
