《诗经》复合词和汉语网络复合词的意义建构存在诸多差异，反应于古代人和现代人的认知操作和知识结构上。汉语网络复合词的象似性比《诗经》复合词的差；古人的认知操作没网民的复杂，其间接反应出了网民喜爱标新立异的性格特点；《诗经》复合词意义建构所需的知识结构的突显方式较常规，而部分汉语网络复合词的突显方式则较超常；《诗经》复合词的意义建构过程所需的知识结构现今出现频率较低、较冷门，而汉语网络复合词意义建构所需的知识结构则多源自时下较新鲜、热门的话题或事件。
