Radome will reduce performances of airborne pulse Doppler ( PD) radar. Evaluating impact of radome on radar performance is essential during airborne PD radar design. Firstly,effect of radome on antenna pattern is ana-lyzed,these include:gain loss,beam broadening,beam deflection,side-lobe level increasing,image lobe genera-tion and null depth increasing. Then airborne PD radar performance degradation due to antenna performance reduc-tion is analyzed. Impact of side-lobes and image lobes on performance of radar in low/medium pulse repetition fre-quency ( PRF) mode is further analyzed through simulation. Conclusion obtained is that radome will affect range and angle measurement performance of airborne PD radar.
