With the progress of both social and economic development,science and technology journals have been con-tinuously changing to adapt to the new era. Editors-in-charge,key figures in an editorial office,play a significantly crucial role in the development of the journals. Their working emphases should conform to the development trend of the times. This paper,based on the author’s personal experience,discusses working emphases of the editors in the new period,including always paying attention to research trends in different professional fields,constantly improving their language levels, obtaining in-depth knowledge of publishing standards and professional standards,mastering modern editing means and keeping high alertness and so on.
