有关民国广州地区旧体诗词的研究主要集中在四个方面：一是对诗人诗作的个案研究，这方面主要集中在名家大家之作。二是诗人词人的群体研究，数量不多，从文献整理和文学研究上都还有许多可开拓的空间。三是诗词理论研究，这方面更受关注，研究成果显著。四是文学史论中的诗词研究，比较零散，尚缺乏深度。
