Based on the historical studies and combined with statistics, harmonic analysis, means low-pass filtering and spectral analysis, the characteristics of the tides and residual currents were analyze with data of more than 3 months from Quanzhou Bay waterway Mstation. The result shows that the tides at the station is regular semidiurnal tide, with a predominant semidiurnal component M2 .The dominant direction of all rising tide layers are of WNW direction, and the dominant direction of surface ebbing layers are of SE—ESE direction, with the measured rise and ebb maximum flow rates up to 151 cm /s and 138 cm /s,respectively.The estuarine circulation dynamic process and vertical circulation is rather clear and evident at the station. From the surface to the bottom, the residu-al stream flows clockwise from WSW to NW.The tension of water body increases with the roles of ebb tides and sa-linity layer structure that decreases gradually with the flood tide.
