爱默生崇尚自然，归隐田园。但在人与自然的关系中，他认为人是自然的主人，自然万物都为人服务。他推崇人的灵性、自由，不愿受束缚；主张远离官场，但始终没有忘怀政治，对当时的政治提出批评，试图改变政治。他认为人具有神性，人神合一，推崇个人主义，提倡个性解放。作为一个超验主义者，爱默生的人生观来源于他所处的时空，他的历史文化传统和宗教信仰。

Emerson loved nature, and returned to cropland. But on the relationship between man and nature, Emerson thought people are the master of nature, and all the things in the nature serve people. He admired person's spirituality, freedom, not willing to be bound. So he insisted away from officialdom, but he never forgot politics, and criticized the current politics, trying to change it. He thought that people have the divinity, the uniting from the person to god, promoting individualism, advocating individual emancipation. As a transcendental idealist, Emerson's philosophy originates from his Space-time, his historical cultural tradition and religious belief.
